Word is that Painter and Raymond are leaving NC State due to conflicts with Gottfred. Hopefully their unproven freshmen will fill the gaps.

I think Painter realized that with these new recruits coming in, he might see a reduction in his already limited playing time. He filled in decently as the Pack's 6th man. I don't think many big-time programs will be waiting in line to sign Painter though. He could be a starter at a mid-major like VCU or perhaps LEHIGH!!!

I think the gaps will be filled just fine. Painter really improved last year, and he'll be missed, but I don't think it will hurt the Pack that much.

I never really understood why kids would transfer out like this. Unless they are granted a waiver for a sick family member, they have to sit a full year before they can play. Whereas, if you stay put, you're likely to play regardless of who's coming in. I hate to see when kids transfer like this...I just feel like it's a dumb decision. If you didn't want to go to that school, you shouldn't have gone in the first place.
Tensions with your coach can be alleviated. Players have this mighty chip on their shoulders and think they should be able to tell the coach what they want and do what they want and get away with it. Not how the real world works...try doing that at your job and see what happens.

I agree. Do not recall the Raymond kid at all, but Painter saw plenty of action and with Howell always in foul trouble, I could see him getting 15+ minutes a game next year. Not sure where he thinks he is going to go to get more minutes. Maybe it is a family situation. Or, as a paranoid Duke fan, maybe Jefferson is going there and he sees his minutes going down. They're saying that Painter is leaving due to a sick family member. If that is the case, then best of luck to DeShawn and prayers for the family member. For Raymond, I guess if he wasn't going to crack the playing rotation on a team with no depth, what was he going to do when arguably more talented players were going to come in and push him further down the bench? Probably is in his best interest to go to a school that has an appropriate need for him as a player.

Not at all. I can't fault for that either.
