I gotta say I am glad to see pro sports added to this forum. The North Carolina Tar Heels are the center of my sports world, but I am also an avid MLB and NFL fan. This is the best time of year IMO. You've got March Madness and the start of baseball season. Having said that I think it would be interesting to see who we all pull for in the Major Leagues.
I am a DIE HARD Baltimore Orioles fan!! That's right I said it. I stick by my team, even though they haven't been competitive in the tough AL East in years. What can I say though?? I stay true. Like I always say, in April we are all still in the hunt!!
LET'S GO O'S!!!!!

As a kid I was a huge baseball fan. Then again, there were essentially no local college sports worth watching in NYC. But with three competitive teams, baseball was huge, and almost always on TV. In fact, each team had its own network.
My grandmother taught me long division by making me recalculate the batting averages of every player on those 3 teams every day. I always did the Dodgers first. Gradually, my interest faded, and it wasn't because my mom also made me calculate earned run averages.
Today, I doubt I could name 10 major league baseball players.

I'm not a big MLB fan personally, but I do pull for the Braves and the Cubs....but only when there's something on the line (playoffs, etc.) Any other time, I don't follow it at all. I do know I cannot STAND the Yankee's, therefore, I find myself pulling for the Boston Red Sox when I do watch a baseball game.
The only time I'm really ever into baseball is during the College World Series...and since my wife went to the University of South Carolina, I've been pretty happy with the past two CWS Champs being the Gamecocks. I pull for them in football also and attend their games occasionally. I went to the Capital One Bowl in Orlando this year to watch them spank the Nebraska Cornflakes. Sorry, got off topic.....

I pull for the St. Louis Cardinals. I hate you Albert Pujols' wife! Oh, and Tizu has really admitted that he never pulls for the Cubs because the playoffs are never on the line for them.

I would have liked to see Pujols finish his career as a Cardinal, but there's no way he's worth what the Angels are paying him for the next 10 years. St. Louis is Baseball Heaven, and if you don't want to play there, something's wrong with you.

St. Louis is Baseball Heaven, and if you don't want to play there, something's wrong with you. The Cardinals made a more than fair offer for Albert to stay. Ultimately, the Cards are better off not signing him for 10 years because I doubt he is able to do anything other than DH the last 3-5 years of it. Of course, if they manage to infect the NL with that cancer in the near future, I may reassess that opinion. However, I think his leaving had a lot to do with what Ms. Pujols wanted. Kudos to Albert for asking the Angels to take down the "El Hombre" billboards because there IS only one "The Man" in baseball and that's Musial. Pujol's decision cost him a statue outside the stadium though. And, if he has the audacity to go into the Hall as anything other than a Cardinal, he's lost the rest of St. Louis fans.

Isn't pulling for the Braves and Cubs a symptom of masochism?

I grew up watching the Braves with my grandpa. I've always pulled for them. Plus, I usually pull for whoever is playing the Wankees.
Hey Tizu, South Carolina's coach is from Benson, so there's a large following for South Carolina baseball where I live.

When I started rooting for the Dodgers, the Braves were still in Boston, and they were pathetic. When they moved to Milwaukee, they actually had some outstanding teams, and were the main threat to Dodger supremacy in the NL in the mid 50's. By then Aaron had started his career, which made him a "bad guy" in my book.
Even then they had great pitching, with a rotation of Warren Spahn, Lew Burdette and Bob Buhl, plus Gene Conley (who I believe also played in the NBA with the Celtics).
