First, they cut Darlington down to just one race a year. Then, they move THE Darlington race to the Saturday night just before Mother's Day. The name of the "Southern 500" was graciously returned to Darlington after Atlanta used it once or twice for the Sunday night race just before Labor Day but, now, we have THE Darlington race on a Saturday night in the middle of April.
Why not just make Darlington the 2nd race of the year right after Daytona (like they did to Rockingham) so it'll be so freakin' cold nobody will come? That way they can take that date from Darlington and move it to a 1 1/2 mile quad oval in (where does NASCAR not go now?) ..... Gallup, NM. Yeah, that'll do it. Of course, they could still throw us a bone and make it the Bojangles Southern 500 presented by Navajo Nation, since we all know that both Bojangles' Cajun fried chicken and NASCAR racing are two things the good folks of far western New Mexico can no longer do without.
It's sad to me as a (pretty much) lifelong fan of racing that NASCAR is busting wide open to eat itself before our very eyes.

I wholeheartedly agree. I have no idea what they're doing. I've watched a little bit of 2 races this year - THE Daytona 500 and part of another one...I don't even remember which one.
I've been largely disinterested this year, I don't know if it's because of crap like this...or if the interest of the sport is just fading in general.

This new generation of business first F-heads is killing everything. Period.
