Although I didn't get to see Wake vs. Maryland, the State vs. Boston College game was great. Clemson and Va Tech are going at it hot and heavy.
It has been a good day of basketball so far!
Any thoughts?

No real surprises so far. I'm watching the Miami/FSU game right now and it's close. Tomorrow is going to be interesting. I think both games will be very close. We know State's troubles with Carolina, but they are playing great, so who knows what will happen. Duke has had trouble with Miami and FSU. Whoever wins the game tonight will give Duke a good game tomorrow, but Duke will probably pull it out.

I like the ACCT better than the NCAAT because I've watched all these teams play all season. There's usually a surprise or two, and that certainly came last night. I did NOT see Duke losing to Maryland, but I did NOT see "that" Maryland team coming to not only win the game, but to win the entire Tourney. The Terps made it clear they're not just in Greensboro to participate, they're there to give the ACC something to remember them by. Next up for the Terps is Carolina, and if Maryland plays anything like they did last night, they'll give Carolina all they can handle.
Losing last night isn't necessarily bad for Duke. Sure, it may cost them a #1 seed, but 1-seeds aren't the only ones cutting down the nets in April. The rest will do Curry and Kelly a lot of good. Today should be another great day of basketball. As much as there's a big difference in the amount of wins and losses between Miami and VT, most teams came ready to play and the weaker teams gave the better teams a run for their money. They put the "madness" in March!

Glad to see you posting here, jgunn. I wish you could get tommy to join you.
I was half expecting you guys to get banned on WRAL for the pasting you've been giving Hokie. He's always had a problem with alcohol, but I'm afraid it's getting worse. And the worse it gets, the more paranoid he gets.
What are your predictions for tomorrow's final? Will we get that rubber match between Carolina and State?

Um, no. Sorry, State reverted back to poor perimeter defense and bad decision-making, with a side of crappy free-throw shooting. Oh well, on to the national tourney.

That was a very exciting championship game! Congrats to the Heels and their fans on a great run in the ACC Tourney. Very fun game to watch.
Good luck to all the ACC Schools in the big dance! I hope all of them get out of the first weekend....Duke has, in my opinion, the toughest bracket...they'll be lucky to make it out of the first weekend.

I'd rather have their chances than State or Carolina. They both have tough first round games before they can worry about Sweet Sixteen. Then they would have to get past two heavyweights. I have a hard time seeing either of them advancing to next week.

They should win, but nothing would surprise me at this point...well, maybe a loss in the first game, but that's not gonna happen.

Duke has the best draw but they earned it with their play. State and Carolina both have teams they can beat. I'm happy with the draw, and really it doesn't matter who we have to play. I think Carolina will have trouble matching up with a team that has a strong inside game. When you have a guard playing at the 4 and a power forward playing center, it doesn't make for a lot of success. Roy has made the best of it but I don't think you can consistently win the big games with that kind of offense. Also, Carolina depends on the 3 to keep them in games. They did that most of the game against Miami, but they went through a period of time in the second half where they missed them. I'm a Carolina fan, so I'm hoping they can hit those 3 on Friday. I see State winning on Friday. I just don't think Temple can stay with them, too many weapons. I also think one advantage with these games is that these teams like Temple and Villa haven't played us before. In the ACC we are so use to playing each other, we learn so much about each team....We know each other too well. Anyway, I'm pulling for all the ACC Teams.

Well stated Cuss. I tend to agree that I think all 4 ACC teams should get through their first games. I hope they all do. What happens after that could be when it gets interesting.

Obviously I would love, especially THIS year, for State to beat Indiana but they cannot - repeat, NOT - sleep on Temple, else they'll be coming home early.
Go Pack

You're right Marty. With the way this year has gone, nobody can sleep on anybody! Look at the losses that Indiana had. Nobody expected those! Nobody thought Wake would beat Miami. Nobody thought State would beat Duke. See what I mean? Upset, after upset, after upset this year. I think this NCAA tournament is going to be one for the ages. I can't wait!
