I know it's a business, and I know he's not getting any younger, and I know he's had some injury issues ...... but, dammit, I hated to hear about the Panthers trading Jon Beason. He was one of my favorites, and IS my favorite "kind" of player: smart, aggressive, passionate, but played clean and smart, and didn't get into any BS. Gonna miss you, Jon - best of luck with the Giants (except against the Panthers).

Guys like Beason don't grow on trees. The NFL needs more like him.

That's for sure. He is a damn good linebacker, just too injury prone. Business is business. Good luck in New York.

My head understands why, but my heart HATES this decision. Beason has played his entire career with the Panthers. I've also watched him every Tuesday on Sports Night (TWC Channel 14) with his "Late Hits" spot. I'll miss seeing that.

Yeah, gunny I know what you mean. I saw it last week, and he was talking with Mike Solarte about going to Phoenix, then it was no later than Thursday (I believe) that the story broke. Football is definitely a young, healthy man's game. Will still miss him, though. Maybe Kuechly can take the torch.
Defensively, they're not doing that bad this year, should be 3-1, the Giants game was an aberration despite how bad the Giants are this year.
Seattle 7-12 Buffalo 23-24 New York 38-0 Arizona 6-22
That's 14.5 points per game. Offense is what's killing them - again.

Absolutely, the offense needs help. They need to go back to doing what they did in Cam's rookie season...he ran all over everyone. I know you don't want your quarterback running a lot, but damnit, utilize his strengths! I saw him run down TWO defensive backs when he threw INTs...that guy is fast and strong and he SHOULD be running the ball more.
I think they've told him to hang in the pocket more....which is a good thing as long as his passes are accurate or the line holds long enough. The problem is he's staying in the pocket TOO LONG and he's got no chance of getting out once it collapses. He cannot read defenses yet, either....Cam is a good runner, but not a good QB. he may do well as a receiver instead of a QB.

Going that route (I know he wouldn't be interested; for our purposes here, I don't care), I think Newton would be a match-up nightmare as a tight end.
Now - who would be QB? Bridgewater? Manziel?
Holy cow, what kind of offensive circus would that be?

You're right, in hindsight, tight end position would probably fit him better with his stature. While Johnny Football is a good quarterback, his attitude (pompous ass comes to mind) has to change. Bridgewater, I could certainly go with!
