The Ravens are a heavy underdog in this one...and I can't say I don't agree with it. They lost what, 9 starters from last year's Superbowl team? Denver also has a few starters out due to injury. I'll take the Broncs over the Ravens and stick with the line on this one (-7 1/2). Looking forward to a great season, Good Luck to all teams not named Green Bay and New England

Good one, Tiz!
What's the deal with Flacco banners being placed at Mile High (or whatever Denver's stadium is called now)? I missed that story.

My understanding is the Ravens couldn't play at home in their season opener (like traditional SB Winners do), because the Orioles had a game last night and refused to move it...so they had to do the entire "Superbowl Celebration" in Denver as opposed to Baltimore...They had Ravens stuff EVERYWHERE in Denver because of it.
Unfortunately, it didn't work out too well for them. Peyton Manning...Wow that guy went OFF! Passed for 7 TDs. 302 Yards in the second half alone. Ridiculous!!! I don't know if he'll be able to keep THOSE kind of numbers all year, but holy cow that was impressive. Right now they are the odds on Superbowl favorites. Lots of things can happen between now and then so I'm keeping the hype in check for now.
Peyton Manning looked as good as ever last night. Congratulations to the Broncos and John Fox!

You gotta be kidding! I remember hearing about this now - I know from personal experience they wouldn't be able to have a baseball and football game in Baltimore at the same time, the stadiums are literally across the street from each other.
Unless the O's are at home this weekend, why in the hell did the NFL insist on the Ravens playing on Thursday? Would the world have ended if they didn't play until Sunday? Stoooooooopid ......

I agree! I thought it was dumb myself, but we're not the decision makers unfortunately.

Last night was the first of a four game series against the White Sox. They are scheduled to play the last of the four on Sunday. So, unless they agreed to play a doubleheader on Saturday (losing the box office for a game) they would have the same problem this weekend.
They also didn't have any open dates between 8/23 and 9/15. They play every day in that span. Sunday's game against the Sox is the last time they play each other this year. And the O's are in contention, if only barely, for the second wild card playoff berth, trailing by three games.
The only time this could have been addressed is before the season started. I don't know when MLB releases its schedule, but I'm sure when they started working on it nobody was thinking the Ravens had a realistic shot at winning the Super Bowl. It's a lot harder for MLB to adjust its schedules, since they have some 2430 games compared to 300 (including preseason) in the NFL.

Good info, Ken. I knew there had to be a simple explanation, and I was right - the NFL was acting like a bunch of peeholes.
