While the defensive line is much improved, the secondary could still use some help. The addition of Star Lotulelei has helped tremendously. Both DE's looked good so far in pre-season, too. I'm not worried about the linebackers, unless there are injuries. Luke Kuechly is a man, Jon Beason is a man, and Thomas Davis is a man. That's is one hell of a linebacking core!
Offensive line needs some serious help, though. If the running backs can't get the hand off before getting pounced on, it's going to be a lousy season....again. If Cam doesn't have the protection needed to throw the ball...again - long season. If Cam doesn't improve his accuracy where the receivers don't have to jump 5 feet in the air to catch a ball, there will be injuries.
Offense certainly needs all the help they can get right now. I hope they can get it together and at least have a decent season.
Projection: 8-8 based solely on the defensive prowess.

Agreed - with them putting Jonathan Stewart on the PUP list today, running back depth and experience is hit for at least the first 6 weeks. God forbid something happens to Williams this season, let alone in the first 6 weeks, because there's no guarantees with Stewart's ankle. Fortunately, at least in this instance, the bye week is early, so he's eligible to play against the Rams in Week 7, but which would only be the Panthers' 6th game. Regardless, they can NOT afford to get off to a 2-8 start again. I called them 8-8 earlier, I'll stick with that. Agree with what I heard Adam Gold say a couple of weeks ago, don't really consider 6-10 last season any real improvement over 5-11 two years ago, 7-9 this season would amount to a step back, in my opinion and in all likelihood would result in (*** yawn ***) a new coach/coaching staff for 2014. We'll see .....

8-8 sounds awfully good right now! The Panthers always seem to have the pieces, but not enough to complete the puzzle. Add injuries (which all teams have to deal with) and they seem to come up short.

I don't know if it's just a matter of coaching or what, but when guys are dropping passes...that's not the coaches fault. When guys are hitting people out of bounds for big penalty's - not the coaches fault.
The players have to get their collective heads in the game and play like we all know they can!

They need to act and play like they give a damn - just like NC State's players.

What a nice turn around the past few weeks, eh? That defense has looked great and the offense has really started to pick up as well. Cam's passes have been much more accurate (other than the 2 INTs last game). Prior to that, he had not thrown an interception in 3 games. He's key to this offense clicking on all cylinders. This week is going to be a tough tough test for them going into Candlestick Park. I love the 49ers so I'm torn on the outcome b/c I'll really be happy either way...however, I would like to see the hometown team get a huge win and be on their way to the playoffs!

I'm still not sold on the idea that this is a playoff team. The best I can imagine is a 9-7 finish, and I don't think that gets them a wildcard. I think their only hope is to at least split with the Saints down the stretch and hope to sneak in as a division champ.

Understand what Ken us saying but really, outside of Seattle (who the Panthers had dead to rights, by the way), who in the NFC is tearing it up? The NFC East is a train wreck, the North is just 3 teams beating themselves plus Minnesota to a pulp, the West after Seattle isn't necessarily scary, and the Saints aren't the unholy warriors of the past, certainly not unbeatable. The wild thing, to me, is this: from what I've seen so far, I can see the Panthers being anywhere from 1 or 2 in the NFC to totally missing the playoffs. Lotta football left to play.

They did what they had to do to win the game, nice to see the offense come thru when the time was there. Re: the last play, Panthers fans will generally come down on the 'no foul, uncatchable' side of the argument, Patriots fans will be livid, and neutrals will be split pretty much in the middle. Can't play what-ifs. Good job Panthers!

I think they lose in the Dome, but get them when they come home...or vice versa. Panthers have played very well away from home this year, so maybe they'll make it happen. I hope the Saints lose tonight!

Tied with the Saints with two head-to-heads remaining would be good.
Invoke Al Davis.

Panthers are in the Playoff's boys! Woooooot!
Beat the Falcons and they win the NFC South Division and get a first round bye.
Great job. It looked bleak after that last drive of the Saints...errr....Jimmy Graham. Cam struggled all day...but was clutch when they needed it the most.
Great job by the defense...Thomas Davis and Luke Kuechly were amazing. Absolutely amazing.
Keep Pounding.

Can understand, but I swear - going to the Redskins, as a player or coach, as long as Snyder owns that franchise is a dead freakin' end. Same as Dallas. Maniacal, egotistical billionaire owners continually f'ing up their playthings with their egos and meddling interference. I feel so sorry for David Amerson, and I hope he signs with a good franchise ASAP once he's a free agent. Come back home, David. Panthers would love a 6'3" corner, enough playmakers to cover him when he gambles and loses.
