Good first game for the Pack, 6-3 over Clemson, they only one 1 of 3 in the regular season series.
Gotta be ready for Miami to be PIZZED tomorrow, Carolina wore them out today.
Go Pack

Maybe they were pizzed "out" rather than "off"? I was seriously worried about State looking ahead to the showdown with Carolina, good to see they lived the "one-game-at-a-time" cliche. Tomorrow night's game should be epic. Go Pack

I hate that what should be an epic matchup could be diminished by the residual effects of a 14 inning game that meant absolutely nothing to either team. Baseball tournaments should be double elimination, or they should not be played at all, IMO.

Agreed, I don't understand why the ACC wouldn't set up the baseball tournament in a double-elimination format just like the NCAA tournament is.

Bringing in a reliever in the top of the 13th - yep, epic. Everything except the Pack's fielding. Three errors - damn.

Oh, well. Gotta hand it to UNC, great game.
Hopefully State will get a good seed for the NCAAs.
Go Pack

I don't care for the pool play, single elimination format in the first place. But I'm really puzzled at a schedule which gives the number one seeded team the hardest road to the championship. Usually, you get rewarded for finishing first. In this tourney, you get punished.
The way it was set up, the number 2 and 3 seeds got to play the earliest game on Saturday, giving them the most time off to rest before the championship game. The number 1 and 4 seeds had to play a night game before an early afternoon game. If form had held, the top seed would have had less rest than the number 2, even if the night game hadn't gone into extra innings.
But form didn't hold, so the #6 seed got a whole day off before the final. On top of that, the #1 seed didn't play its first game until the middle of day two, which meant their best pitcher could not be used in more than one game, unless he went on two days rest. It seems to me the #1 and #2 seeds should have played on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday instead of the #6 and #7 teams.
I'm glad this format is going away.

That was an epic game. Sad to see UNC win, but congratulations to them for being the #1 overall seed in the NCAA tournament. I remember a couple of years ago when South Carolina went in and no one thought they had a shot...the coach told the players to call their parents and tell them they were NOT coming home, they were going to practice and win the CWS. Well, damnit, the did it...twice! I hope they do it again this year but I don't think they have the pitching staff needed this year or the hitters. I guess we'll see.
SC and UNC may meet up shortly, I hope the boys in Garnet and black win.
I know, I'm a SC bandwagoner, but I married a University of South Carolina alum, so by marriage, I'm a Gamecock. Their games have so much energy....baseball and football at least.
