Personally, I think UVA and UMD should have been in over someone like Middle Tennessee, but that's just my opinion. I understand the notion the NCAA wants to not leave out the little guys, but when you leave out a team like Virginia in lieu of one of those teams with a far less superior RPI / SOS, I think that poses potential problems...but Hey, it is what it is, Jack!
Duke and Miami both ended up with 2 seeds. Duke in the Midwest (the toughest bracket in my opinion) and Miami in the East. Both UNC and NCSU got 8 seeds. UNC in the South and NCSU in the East.
It's not going to be easy for any of these teams to advance very far. With the way the field has played this year, as we've seen, anything can happen.
Is this the year a Cinderella wins it all or will the projected winner Indiana prevail? I personally don't have Indiana in the final four, I just don't think they have all the tools to make it that far. Maybe I'm wrong, we'll find out soon enough.
Vote and explain your answer.

Define Cinderella. I wouldn't be surprised if any one of twenty teams won it all. From the ACC, either Miami or Duke are capable of winning six games in a row. I'd give a slight edge to Miami because of their bracket.

I would define a Cinderella as a school like Middle Tennessee. A small school not widely known even exists, yet makes a big noise in the tournament and upsets big name schools on their way. Much like George Mason did.

Much like George Mason did. In that case, no. I don't expect one of those schools to make it. Because, though I think it's wide open at the top of the brackets, there are too many very good teams a Cinderella would have to get past just to make it to the Final Four. But if a Cinderella could be somebody like State in '83 or Villanova in '85 - that I could see.

BTW, I am excluding schools like Gonzaga, New Mexico and Memphis from the potential Cinderella list because they come in too highly ranked for that (even if those rankings are a little suspect).

Agreed Ken. I haven't voted on this, b/c it is certainly plausible that any 4 of the schools could make it to the final 4. It's hard to say yes or no, but I'll go out on a limb and say "yes". I think Duke or Miami stand the best chances, though.

I think Miami has a good chance. Maybe Duke, but Carolina and State, I don't think so. Carolina doesn't have the big man inside. If they can hit 3s and run, they can stay with most teams. A big athletic team will definitely give them problems. With State, they have the talent, but sometimes they seem to lose focus and don't play defense. They are athletic and can score. With Duke they don't seem very athletic and are not playing the usual defense seen from Coach K teams. I think Miami, because they have 4 seniors that know how to play. Also, they have probably the best point guard in the country. I really hope that the ACC teams can represent our conference well, since I think Maryland and Virginia should have received an invitation.

I'm afraid State hasn't stocked enough Ritalin for six straight - we'll see.

I think it's a good chance of seeing an ACC team in the Final Four. I think it will be Miami. They have a lot of weapons, and when they are on their game....wow! I hope my Pack can make a good run, but I don't see them being another '83 team.

Love these guys, they're my team, but they don't have the collective heart of the 83 team. Would LOVE to be wrong, but I've got a crappy habit of picking bad times to be right.
Most "LIKELY" to go Atlanta out of the ACC: I say Miami, but I'm not gonna say they WILL do it.

Best of luck to all the ACC teams, today! Let's show the NCAA that the ACC is still the best conference of them all!

Way to finish out the season, Pack. Greeeaaaaaat job, thanks for the memories.
Holy crap - starting 5 has two Jr's and two Sr's, and you guys STILL don't know you have to play 40 - FORTY - @#$%&! minutes, ESPECIALLY at !@#$%&!@#$%& tournament time?!?!?!
You want me to buy tickets? You want me to go to the games? You want me to put in 20 hour days to go to the 9:00 PM games? You want me to join the Wolfpack Club and give, give, give until it hurts?
Gimme a reason .....
Rich - don't worry, big man. You couldn't do it all yourself. Hardest working man in the whole damn country, you just didn't get enough CONSISTENT help.
Calvin - good shooting, good hustling, still too many TO's for as much as you have the ball.
Lorenzo - I don't know, man - good one play, crappy the next. You're a f'n junior, dude. Damn.
Scott - Hmmm ... press talked all year about how 'dead-eye' you are, and in your last damn game, you get your first point with what, 5 to go? Thanks for everything though - seriously.
T.J. - mostly up, a little down, to be expected from a freshman. Keep working to improve.
Rodney - ExPLOsive ability, need to work on a bit for consistency from outside, need to work A LOT on free-throw shooting. With your quickness and driving ability, no reason you can't average 20 a night, with about half coming from the FT line. Quit bulldozing toward the basket in 1-on-3 situations.
Tyler - Loved watching you keep your head up and develop, you were ready when needed when Lorenzo got hurt. Keep working, screw the jealous haters.

Best of luck to all the ACC teams, today! Let's show the NCAA that the ACC is still the best conference of them all! All things considered, not a bad first day. The ACC may not be the best, but there are only two conferences with more teams still playing in the NCAAT. The B1G is living up to the hype, with six winners in the first round. The A-10 is surprising some people with 5 teams left (and a 6-0 record so far), but the only conference with more teams in the top 100 RPI was the Big East (11 to 10). Those guys are for real.

Man what a crazy tournament. Who would have thought FGCU would be going to the Sweet 16? Awesome. I'm happy for them! UNC took one on the chin after coming out strong last night. Duke had a tough, tough grind it out game. Off shooting night all night long, foul trouble all night and still were able to pull off the win. Best defense all year long, good rebounding. They earned that win last night, that's for sure.

I wonder how many schools will now try to copy FGCU's scheduling model. Out of conference, they played VCU, Duke, St John's and Iowa State - all on the road - and Miami at home. They weren't skeered of playing with the big boys.

Teams should schedule tough OOC games - it definitely helps in the long run, especially if you can come away with a win or two. I've been pulling like hell for FGCU. I think it's spectacular!

I'm glad I was at work and didn't see that State game. I hate they ended the season that way, but hey, there's always next year. Good to see Duke and Miami still playing. I hope one of them comes away with the trophy.
Marty, I'm with you man. Hopefully they can learn how to go hard for 40 minutes (like Howell always did) and get the job done next year.
