I figured Duke would win. Did I figure it would be a blowout from start to finish? No.
Kelly didn't have a particularly good game, but Duke was absolutely on fire last night. Awesome performance, boys. Keep it up!

Games like this are precisely what make trash-talking fans look like horses' asses when they say what "they" are going to do. A bit of good-natured ribbing afterwards is O.K., but the stuff in "other places" is beyond ridiculous. So glad this board exists.
As for UNC-Duke II, I still think it boiled down to UNC's relative inexperience; that and poor shooting. How else to explain Duke starting off 14-0 and ultimately winning by "just" 16? Great beginning, solid remainder of the game by Duke. UNC should regroup O.K., Williams is too good of a coach to just let them fall apart.

I'm hoping for Duke - UNC III personally. It looks like it's very possible that could happen next Saturday. What a treat that would be! Duke will win that one, too.

Sidebar: While I am glad this board is here...it's really...REALLY boring. Just haven't been able to get it going. Oh well

And how incredibly despicable is it that UNC fans started leaving in droves at halftime? Even the recruits that were there left early!
Way to honor your seniors, UNC "fans"! Truly pathetic. I have never once left a Duke game early or turned off the television no matter how bad they were losing. I can't, as a fan, bring myself to do it. I'll support my team through thick and thin.
My brothers both turned the game off after halftime (they are UNC "fans"). How incredibly pathetic do you have to be to not support your team even when they're losing badly?
Ok, I'm off my soap box now...

(with much thanks and kudos to Dennis Miller)
..... I don't want to get off on a rant here, but does it truly surprise anyone that any given UNC fan would leave a game very early when "they" aren't winning? It's the same thought process that made known UNC fans in the late 1980's "suddenly" not care about football or, even worse, say that they pulled for NC State during football. It's also the same thought process that makes "Roy" (they're all on a first-name basis with Coach Williams, aren't they?) go from being a Hall of Famer to past-his-prime in 48 hours or less.
You're only as good as your last game; I get that. But this has nothing - absolutely squat, freakin' zero - to do with any other school or coach, it has EVERYTHING to do with the unfortunate combination of being an elitist with a sense of entitlement. It makes "them" what "they" are: part of "we" or "us" when UNC is winning, talking junk about "them" when "they" lose. Ever hear Chevy Chase tell the 'Weekend Update' audience "I'm Chevy Chase and you're not?" The typical UNC fan is kind of like that; it just makes the rest of us chuckle that much more when Chase's President Ford busts his ass. The point is, a true fan doesn't necessarily have to be an alumnus of a given school in order to be a "true fan", they don't even have to donate money to the school, or buy the apparel, or go to the games to be a "true" fan. But for the same reasons that it's somehow easier for them to "pull for" a winner when they're first looking for a team or school to pull for, it's those same reasons that are why they should stick with their chosen school or team when times are tough, as long as their chosen favorite team is following the rules and playing fairly.
Wait - what were we talking about?
Of course, that's just my opinion - I could be wrong.

Amen Marty and Tizu! I don't despise Carolina just because I went to State. I've despised them because of the crap I've heard from the fans my entire life. I know every team has their "obnoxious" fans, but Carolina seems to have way more than most other schools. *Disclaimer- Harnett Co. Heel isn't one of them, he's alright*
Anyway, great job by Duke. They whipped 'em like a mule!

Bye the way, yall make thing it's petty, but I had heard enough crap on Facebook from Carolina fans (that didn't go to Carolina) after the last State/UNC game. So, I posted a picture of my NCSU diploma with the caption "I didn't get this from Walmart, unlike your Tarheel shirt." You could have heard the crickets chirping after that.

Let me throw this in from a Heels perspective..... We stunk the place up lol I watched the game with my Brother in law (big duke fan), the ENTIRE game and yes i nashed my teeth a few times not to go off on him lol. It`s all good, it was one of those noghts, Duke doesnt have many games they shoot like that. WE were caught with a team that couldnt miss on a night with a team that couldnt hit. It happens.

True dat, Russ. I've said all season Carolina is young this year and where they're not exactly "young" they are inexperienced; i.e., McAdoo (for example) being "thrust" into a position of leadership rather than gradually assuming it at a more "natural" pace. I also have said UNC fans should give this team some time to jell and settle into their respective roles. Well? 3rd place in the ACC ain't too shabby. UNC fans like you make me think there's hope for y'all yet.

Duke-UNC III would be great. If it happens, it will be interesting to see if Duke could manage to beat them three times in the same season. That's a tough order.
Carolina was so out of sync at the start of the last one that they just dug too deep a hole. Have to wonder how much starting the seniors contributed to that.
I don't think a Duke loss would hurt their NCAAT seeding too badly, but it would help UNC's enormously, IMO.

I think you're right, (as usual) Ken. I think Duke would still be a #1 seed...I just don't see Carolina having the horses to beat Duke now that everyone is healthy. I could be wrong. I don't think it'd be a blowout like the last game, but it'd probably be a high single / low double digit victory for Duke.

By the way Russ, I can tell you're not one of "those" fans. Welcome to the board and I look forward to some good discussion, even if you do pull for the wrong team, haha!
