All in all, a good game.
Was NOT happy - AT ALL - with the effort and intensity over about the first 8 minutes or so but from then on I thought State played well. Disappointed, though, in how well UConn rebounded, especially offensively.
Would still like to see Vandenburg get more minutes to spell Leslie and Howell.
My grade: B-
Go Pack

Again, I was un-impressed. State has a ton of talent, but they lack a lot of heart and grit. They need it. I'm sure some of that will come during the year...but they need some help right now, for sure.

I think that speaks to the "intensity" I'm looking for, Tiz. All jokes aside, K might go nuts on a Duke kid for a missed assignment or a poor decision but I generally don't see him having to get on a kid about effort.
I'm proud and happy about the Pack, but they're nowhere near good enough to be able to flip the switch and cruise; the longer they play like they think they are that good the worse the season will turn out for State, I'm afraid.

I think you're right in your analysis. They need a wake up call...if the losses thus far aren't them...then I'm not quite sure what is.

I saw a big improvement in the second half. Maybe they figured out that they can't just walk out on the court and beat UConn. Either way, they need to play HARD for 40 minutes, every time. Hopefully the intensity will be there when conference play starts.
