I have never in my life seen so many pit road speeding penalties! It was crazy! They had what, 20 or so of them? It was overall a good race. Jr. had a great car just had to pit late due to being short on fuel, bummer! I believe it would have been between Jr. and Kenseth had they not had to pit for fuel. Dale is the only driver to finish every lap this season and has a cup best 11 top 10 finishes this year. Only 10 behind Kenseth in the points standings, he's been very consistent all year. I just hope he can keep it up going into the chase.
The bump and run by Logano I thought was not necessary, he clearly had a better car than Mark and could have gotten around him without that, but, that's racin'!
Congrats to Joey, I personally don't have a problem with him...just the make of car he drives!

Jr's on a roll, no doubt. True, he hasn't won but racing championships have always had 'consistency' as the primary hallmark rather than race wins. I do think, regardless of what structure you want to use for points, premiums for race wins should continue - I know they give 3 points for a win on top of the 43 points the winner scores for position and the 1 point for leading a lap (they also give 1 for leading the most laps).
I'd like to see "The Chase" gone, give points however you'd like. If you want to keep the 43-down-to-1 format, fine; keep giving one point for leading a lap and one point for leading the most laps, that's fine too. However, I think they should give 5 points for a driver's first win of the season, 10 points for the 2nd win, and 15 for each additional win.
I don't have any problem with Tony Stewart (other than his being yet another Hendrick driver), but his winning the title last season was the equivalent of a wild card winning the Super Bowl or World Series - he "snuck in" the "playoffs", got hot at the right time after having a mediocre "regular season", and then ran away with it (as far as winning races, I know the points total was a tie between him and Edwards); he took the best advantage of the rules in place at the time, but he even said himself he didn't think he deserved a spot in the Chase ahead of a driver that had done better in the "regular season".
By instituting "The Chase", Brian France has taken another step towards trying to force racing to be like the "stick-and-ball" sports with playoffs, when that was always an issue that made racing unique, in my opinion. It's the same concept as throwing "competition" cautions during a race because the leader's too far out in front; smacks of "set up" or "contrived", to me.
As far as yesterday's race: I'd rather not have Toyota in NASCAR, but I have tons of respect for Joe Gibbs (how Kyle Busch still has a job there is beyond me). Congratulations to Joey Logano and the 20 team, best car all weekend. I don't think he "bumped" Mark Martin (no relation) as much as Mark got loose in Turn 1 with Logano right on his arse. At that point, that's nothing but hard racing.
Good day to all.

I agree with you about the chase / points stuff. I wish they'd go back to how it used to be...the race season seems to be extremely long and some drivers have recently complained that it should be shortened. I personally love it, b/c I love NASCAR. I don't watch any of the NWS or Truck series...the only one I care about is the Cup series. I hear Honda is trying to get into NASCAR now as well. I hate that Toyota is in it...just leave it to the big 3 and let it be. Toyota and Honda belong in open wheel, IMHO.
Oh well, to each his own.

In all seriousness - right now, NASCAR has GM, Ford, Dodge (still considered "Chrysler"?), and Toyota. What in the wide world is stopping Honda, Subaru, Isuzu, Fiat, or any other "foreign" (read: Not United States of America-based) auto manufacturer from joining the fray? If that happens, with the current state of the economy, here and abroad, and with economic forecasts I've seen about the immediate and near futures, if the "Foreign Invasion" kicks into high gear (pun intended), how long would struggling American auto manufacturers be able to stay in it? You've already got F1, IMSA, Rolex Sports Cars, etc. that are largely (if not COMPLETELY) foreign companies, not sure why the "National" Association of Stock Car Auto Racing must be international in make up (not talking about drivers, talking about cars).

I didn't get to see any of the Pocono race. I have great respect for Joe Gibbs, mainly because I've been a Redskins fan my whole life. However, I will not pull for any of his racing teams as long as they are Toyota. I just can't bring myself to do it. I totally agree with you guys....let the foreign automakers have open wheel and leave NASCAR to domestics. They only success I've seen by a domestic in something other than NASCAR is the Chevy Corvette teams in the American Le Mans Series. They whoop ass in the ALMS. 8 championships! Anyway, I think the chase format is ridiculous. Imagine if a driver outside the top 12 wins 3 or 4 races during the chase (unlikely, but not impossible). How pissed would you be to have that kind of success, but it be too late in the season to have a shot at the championship! Junior and his team are really doing great this year. I hope he can solidify things with a win or 5! Hey Marty.....Hendrick rocks! Haha, just had to poke the bear a little. Oh, and if I ever see a Fiat turning left on Sunday.....my NASCAR watching days are over.
