Should be very interesting to see how the academic fraud investigation at UNC effects the basketball team.
Hanztravel even took Swahili.

Isn't "Luol Deng" Swahili for "Early Exit"?

Even though it's UNC, I still hate to see stuff like this. It doesn't help the students/athletes or the school. I'm sure it happens in just about every big league school, but Carolina just hasn't had any luck avoiding the magnifying glass lately.

Curious to know what percentage of student-athletes (could even breakdown over football and men's basketball, based on the conversation David Glenn was having with the N&O's Dan Kane this afternoon on 99.9 FM) majored in African-American Studies -vs- the general student body at large. Seems this system was entrenched even before Butch Davis took office.

Straight from the Ask And You Will Receive Department: www.wralsportsfan.com/college_football/story/11078337/"... The school said Tuesday football players represented 246 of 686 enrollments (36 percent) in the 54 courses within the Department of African and Afro-American Studies between summer 2007 and summer 2011. Those classes lacked appropriate supervision and were called "aberrant" or were "taught irregularly" with limited contact between instructors and students, according to a university report released Friday. Men's basketball players represented 23 enrollments, roughly 3 percent, during that span. ..." Wow. Just for Men's Basketball, that averages nearly 6 players per year for the four-year period covered by this report, including one National Championship season.

Nice deflection. As far as the translation, you will have to ask Tyler Hansbrough as I understand he took the class. I did not. Hopefully this will get very interesting. Isn't "Luol Deng" Swahili for "Early Exit"?

This thing just went to a WHOLE 'nother level with the Orange County DA asking the NC SBI to investigate. Tick, tock ...

Marty, it has really gone deeper than I had ever imagined it would. This whole situation is sad for UNC. I hope they get all this mess straightened out with the academic fraud. Who knows what more will come out. So far none of the other teams have been implicated...too early to tell if it will affect any other teams.

I hope for UNC's sake the bleeding stops quickly. It's really making the school look bad. Even though I have no love for the Tarheels in any way, it's sad to see what's happening.
