Lunardi's day in the sun lasts about four weeks every year. You have to wonder what it is that he does the other 48 weeks. For that matter, I wonder what he did all his life before ESPN appointed him "Guru for life" a couple of years ago. If I could get the opinion of any one person about who should make the tourney field, it wouldn't be Joe Lunardi. It would be Jay Bilas. "...wonder what it is that he does the other 48 weeks." Hibernates. Comes out in late January, sees his shadow, goes back in for six weeks, then comes out in mid March and gets his photo endlessly taken and gets hours of television coverage, while people marvel at how fat he's gotten over the winter.

Totally agree about Bilas and the brackets. Jay Bilas is hands down the best analyst IMHO. He is succinct, unbiased, and smart as hell. Give me Bilas any day of the week. My personal hell? Vitale. The guy has a heart of gold, but I can't stand his blathering.

Congratulations, ESPN. Your takeover of college football is complete. Agreed! It seems like everybody but the NCAA has control of college football. The only time the NCAA gets involved is if there's a rules violation.

The NCAA's whoring for money is what is ruining it. If they would just step up and institute an honest-to-God tournament (if they'd want to start with eight teams then fine), the schools and then, out of necessity, TV would fall in line. The NCAA needs to quit being the tail and go back to being the dog. I imagine there were similar concerns prior to 1939, but look at "March Madness" now. I'm not saying football would, could, or even needs to get anywhere close to 64 but 8 is certainly doable, as is 16.

If Division II can do it, Division I can. Period.
